Account tiers and what each one allows

Tier 1, 2 and 3 — how to move up and what changes when you do.

Your tier decides how much you can hold and move. Everyone starts at Tier 1 after the BVN or NIN check, and you can move up whenever you are ready.

Tier 1 — BVN or NIN plus a live selfie

  • Everyday sending, receiving and bill payments with modest daily and balance ceilings.
  • Enough for most people who use Rainpay for airtime, transfers and small savings.

Tier 2 — add a government ID

  • NIN slip, international passport or driver's licence, plus a live selfie.
  • Much higher daily and balance ceilings.

Tier 3 — add proof of address

  • Your house number and address, verified against your records.
  • The highest ceilings, and access to every Rainpay feature including cards.

Your live tier and exact limits always show on the Verification page — that page is the source of truth, because limits change as regulation changes.

Rainpay is a financial technology company and is not a bank. Banking, payment and deposit services are provided by licensed financial institutions and licensed payment service providers regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria, currently Beamer Microfinance Bank, Platnova and Red Biller Technologies.
